The British celebrity, aged 31, tragically lost his life after a fall from the third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina on October 16 of the previous year. Payne’s assets amounted to $32,490,000, which after settling debts and expenses, reduced to $27,600,000.

Speculation abounded regarding the potential beneficiaries of this estate. One speculated recipient was his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, especially after her declarations about intending to marry Payne.

Nonetheless, judicial records indicate that Liam had designated Cheryl Tweedy—his former partner and the mother of his son, eight-year-old Bear Grey Payne—as the executor of his estate. Moreover, music attorney Richard Bray, who is representing Liam’s family in their legal efforts to initiate criminal proceedings against those allegedly responsible for the singer’s death, is also mentioned.

In relation to this case, three individuals stand accused of homicide: the hotel manager, a receptionist, and a friend of Payne, as confirmed by the National Prosecutor’s Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters of Argentina.

Therefore, Cassidy will not inherit any part of the singer’s wealth, in accordance with UK inheritance laws, which dictate that a deceased’s estate passes to the legitimate spouse or the closest blood relative—in this case, his son Bear. Consequently, it is probable that the estate will be placed in a trust for Bear.
