Whether it’s a newly imagined sport utility vehicle or the reemergence of a highly regarded halo car, the vehicles coming to market in 2025 prove that Americans’ attitudes about personal transportation are diverse and are being served from all angles. Automakers are developing and producing vehicles that are available with several powertrain options, fit the lifestyles of modern families, can adapt to the terrain and go further off-road than ever before.
All that comes at a price. The cost of owning a vehicle today is higher than ever before. Not only are parts and labor more expensive than they used to be, but insurance rates are also predicted to have skyrocketed 22 percent nationally in 2024 based on analysis from Insurify. And in some states, rates are expected to spike 50 percent or more. Adding to the pain of car payments, the cost of insuring a new vehicle is typically more than insuring an older model.
High interest rates have pushed monthly financing rates higher, and dollars are not going as far as they used to due to inflation. In October 2021, the interest rate on a 60-month car loan was 3.87 percent. By the beginning of July 2024, that number had nearly doubled to 7.92 percent, according to data from Statista, a global data and business intelligence platform.
America’s Most Anticipated New Vehicles 2025 list reflects those diverse attitudes toward buying vehicles. Gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles all make the cut. Many have propellant options; you can get it with a gasoline engine or some form of hybrid powertrain. The battery-electric vehicles on the list have upped the ante in their own way. Range Rover Electric takes a current luxury SUV and adds new power and prowess. The Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan gets a fresh look and more battery range. A third, the Hyundai Ioniq 9, is the largest all-electric SUV the company has made for its U.S. buyer base.
Ram’s new truck walks the line, offering 145 miles of all-electric range and 690 when running on hybrid power. This means buyers that tow get a model with zero tailpipe emissions when driving around town, but can travel long distances and with heavy loads without the range restrictions of a battery-electric model.
Three of the list’s new vehicles offer fresh powertrain options. One is more controversial than the others: It transforms what is appreciated about one of the world’s most beloved sports cars, the Porsche 911, into a hybrid.
A few models on the list have been long awaited, like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Murano, which were last new a few years before the Tesla Model 3 came to market.
Family SUVs will have their time in the sun in 2025, with offerings coming from nearly every side of the automaker world. Among them, the budget-friendly Volvo EX30 graces our list, as do the much larger and pricier Nissan Armada and Ford Expedition. Acura’s new ADX small SUV will test the waters versus the highly regarded Lincoln Corsair when it comes to market, and Honda is changing its audience targets for the Passport midsize SUV, opting to market a more rugged-looking SUV than the previous-generation model.
On the other side of the coin are cars built for speed. Aston Martin and Chevrolet are showcasing two of the most intriguing. The Aston Martin Vanquish offers up over 800 horsepower and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will give drivers even more—over 1,000 hp.
Having a lot of power does not have to be paired with a bone-rattling driving experience. The Bentley Continental GT Speed and Vanquish, both on the list, are helping lead the balanced charge of a new crop of grand tourers.
While most of the models on the list are refreshed models, nine are being offered for sale for the first time in history. Only two of these come from a startup automaker—the Gravity family-friendly, battery-electric SUV and Polestar 4, an all-electric performance high-riding hatchback.
Longtime nameplates are also making consequential vehicle introductions in 2025. Subaru will sell the Forester Hybrid to its American buyer base for the first time. The compact SUV, which generally appeals to environmentally minded outdoorspeople, has been up against hybrids from Honda and Toyota for years. Jeep will sell the Wagoneer S, its second all-electric model, in the U.S. as well. The SUV is a gamble, but a big leap forward for the brand.
The 2025 crop of America’s Most Anticipated New Vehicles sets the tone for the future, offering a glimpse of what to expect from automakers as design, fuel source and pricing continue to be large parts of the ongoing automotive conversation.
How These Were Chosen: America’s Most Anticipated Vehicles 2025 list is designed to be forward-looking and preview models coming to market in the next calendar year, but timelines can change. The winners were carefully selected by Newsweek’s Autos Team over the last year and are based on many factors. Every effort was made to accurately predict which models will come to market and when, given the intelligence available at the time of publication.
Acura ADX
Expected ▸ First Quarter 2025
Premium vehicle shoppers will soon have a new, small SUV to consider. The Acura ADX will arrive at dealerships nationwide sized to compete with the Volvo XC40, Cadillac XT4 and Jeep Compass. It will pull luxe design cues from its stablemates and a turbocharged powertrain from the Integra. Within the Acura lineup, the ADX is sized to slot below the two-row RDX and three-row MDX. And it will be priced accordingly, with experts expecting it to start around $35,000, a good price for this sharply designed, compact model.
Aston Martin Vanquish
Expected ▸ Early 2025
Vanquish is back. The long-heralded Aston Martin nameplate has been revived as a halo model to sit atop the company’s lineup with just 1,000 examples to be delivered to customers each year during its production cycle. The new Vanquish is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 5.2-liter V12 engine that delivers a class-leading 824 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All that power helps the car have a top speed of 214 mph while riding on 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Aston has priced the Vanquish to start at $429,000.
The Aston Martin Vanquish is a sexy beast that is fun to drive. By bringing the new halo model to market, Aston Martin is taking further steps to show its brand revitalization is well underway.
Audi A5/S5
Expected ▸ Late spring/early summer 2025
Audi’s new take on the A5 sedan is designed to be the successor to the company’s successful A4 model lineup. With its sleek front-end design and interior technology that benefits from Volkswagen Group development, Audi is poised to recement its place as a worthy middle ground contender between the elegance of a Mercedes-Benz and the sportiness of a BMW. Audi will sell the A5 and its sportier stablemate, the S5, in the U.S. from 2025, but they won’t get all the technology bells and whistles that Audi offers Europeans; due to U.S. regulations, the car’s active light signatures and adaptive Matrix LED headlights won’t be available. In addition, America will not get the Avant style of the models, just the sedans. Pricing for the new A5 and S5 will be announced closer to the model’s on-sale date.
Audi Q5
Expected ▸ Spring/summer 2025
Audi has upgraded its bestselling Q5 SUV for the new model year to include fresh, modern design and a better driving experience. Its sporty looks and interior design and technology options link it to the most recent Audi models to debut, like the Audi A5/S5. The German automaker is promising improved acoustics in the new Q5, along with easy driveability and a wide range of driver-assistance and safety features. In addition to the traditional Q5 version, Audi plans to sell a more engaging SQ5 variant as well. Pricing is expected to start upwards of $45,000.
Bentley Continental GT Speed
Expected ▸ Early 2025
The luxurious grand tourer has been redesigned with enhanced speed, technology and looks. All that starts at the front grille where Bentley’s signature circular headlight has been redesigned with added ferocity. The plug-in hybrid Continental GT Speed allows drivers to enjoy emissions-free motoring for up to about 50 miles, while its enhanced suspension, high horsepower and easy handling make it feel sportier than the traditional Continental GT. Add to that, buyers get full access to Bentley’s Mulliner customization operation, which allows personalization to a buyer’s perfect specifications. Continental GT Speed pricing starts at well over a quarter-million dollars.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Expected ▸ 2025
The highest-power Chevrolet Corvette in the company’s modern stable is coming in 2025. The Corvette ZR1 features a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that delivers 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque. All that power moves the car a full quarter mile in less than 10 seconds and enables it to reach a top speed of over 215 miles per hour. The General Motors brand plans to make the Corvette ZR1 at its Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Pricing for the sports car is expected to start around $150,000.
The Corvette ZR1 is the stuff childhood car dreams are made of. It’s fast with a poster-worthy body design and a tailpipe roar that could make even the staunchest environmentalist feel unbridled joy.
Ford Expedition
Expected ▸ Spring 2025
In the new, three-row Expedition, Ford has taken the best of its technology from the hot-selling F-150 truck and adapted it for family use. That means that the new Ford Expedition gets hands-free BlueCruise automated driving technology alongside a well-appointed interior and truck-like off-road capability. The SUV’s split rear liftgate and flexible, split-folded seating with pass-throughs for the second and third rows were designed to make loading and unloading and storing long cargo like lumber or ski equipment easier. The hands-free open and closing capability for the rear liftgate is equally user-friendly. Pricing for the new Ford Expedition starts north of $61,000.
Honda Passport
Expected ▸ Early 2025
Honda’s Passport is headed in a new direction. The automaker is making the two-row Passport more rugged for the 2026 model year with a fresh body, and its new equipment will make it more capable than ever before. The Passport TrailSport is expected to be the most adventure-ready of the Passport bunch with 18-inch wheels, 31-inch all-terrain tires, bright orange heavy-duty front recovery points and a four-view camera system. The company has developed a line of Honda Genuine Accessories for the model that includes rock sliders, an aluminum front scuff plate and cargo accessories. Pricing is expected to start in the mid-$40,000 range.
Hyundai Ioniq 9
Expected ▸ Second quarter of 2025
The Ioniq 9 is Hyundai’s all-electric three-row SUV. About the same size as the Hyundai Palisade, a gas-powered model, Ioniq 9 pulls from the company’s Seven Concept, first shown in 2021. Brand enthusiasts should expect a fast-charging SUV with a spacious cabin. The Ioniq 9 will undoubtedly be infused with the company’s latest technological features, including advanced safety and driver-assistance technology. The Ioniq 9 will be similar underneath to the Kia EV9, so potential buyers should expect pricing to be in the same vein, starting upward of $50,000.
Jeep Wagoneer S
Expected ▸ 2025
Jeep was supposed to bring the Wagoneer S to market in the autumn of 2024, but it’s been put on hold to make it “perfect” quality, said Antonio Filosa, chief executive officer of Jeep, in September. The company told Newsweek that they will have fresh launch timing information available “soon.” The 600-horsepower electric SUV pairs power with the company’s traction management system to deliver a zippy drive. Jeep promises a range of 300 miles from a single charge. With a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, electronic door releases, 45 inches of usable screen space and customizable LED lighting, Wagoneer S is positioned to be the most technologically advanced Jeep on the market. The Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition will be the first model out of the gate. It is priced at $71,995 including the destination charge.
The Jeep Wagoneer S arrives on dealership lots at a time when the brand is struggling to sell models. The sporty, capable battery-electric SUV will need to be convincing out of the gate as it will have a high price tag and come with the stigma of full powertrain electrification.
Kia EV9 GT
Expected ▸ 2025
Kia is doing to its EV9 three-row SUV what it did to the smaller EV6 hatchback—making it quicker. The new Kia EV9 GT will likely get similar features and equipment as the EV6 GT, which has unique black alloy wheels, high-performance tires, a high-performance braking system, an electronically controlled suspension, GT drive mode and sportier front seats. The price delta between a base model EV6 and the EV6 GT is around $20,000. Potential buyers of the EV9 GT should expect a similar pricing structure for that model. The 2024 EV9 starts at $54,900.
Kia’s three-row battery-electric SUV is very good and the GT version should turn more than a few heads. Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the EV9 GT will inevitably be a niche product, but it must perform well to set the bar for the company’s future electric SUVs.
Lincoln Navigator
Expected ▸ Early 2025
The new Navigator features a bold exterior inspired by the looks of the company’s new Nautilus SUV, which went on sale in 2024. Like its stablemate, the Ford Expedition, the Navigator has a split rear liftgate. But the Navigator’s generous 48-inch digital display is shared with Lincoln’s smaller Nautilus SUV. Lincoln created its new Navigator three-row SUV to be a “spa on wheels.” While the vehicle is parked, drivers can experience a five or 10-minute Rejuvenate treatment experience that involves a slightly warm, reclined massaging seat. Ambient lighting, soothing sounds and a subtle fragrance fill the cabin. A Waterfall Meditation experience, in partnership with the Calm app, is also standard. Experts believe that the 2025 Lincoln Navigator will be priced upward of $85,000 to start, a slight bump from the starting price of the 2024 model.
Lucid Gravity
▸ On sale now
With an excellent all-electric range of up to 440 miles on one charge and seating for seven, the Lucid Gravity is a new SUV for a new generation of family. Its design elements are inspired by nature, which is reflected in the Gravity’s interior scheme names including Yosemite and Mojave. Gravity comes complete with two large screens; one spans half the dashboard and the other display controls nearly every system in the vehicle. Creature comforts like massaging seats and zoned climate controls are available. Orders for the Gravity Grand Touring trim began on November 7. It is priced from $94,900 and offers more than 800 horsepower, with an estimated all-electric range of over 440 miles. The Gravity Touring is expected in late 2025. It will start at $79,900.
Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan
Expected ▸ First half of 2025
Revisions to the Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan make it more desirable. Its new exterior styling features a refined front fascia and new grille design that visually links the car to the company’s S-Class sedan. It also now has a Mercedes-Benz standing star on the hood, and AMG Line styling front and rear bumpers. Propelling the car is a new battery with 118 kilowatt-hours of energy, while new regenerative braking software enables greater energy recuperation. Final numbers are not officially in, but the changes are expected to give the EQS Sedan more than 350 miles of range. The all-electric flagship car has also gotten interior upgrades with more options available. Expect to see the EQS Sedan at a dealership with pricing starting around $105,000.
Nissan Armada
▸ On sale now
The revised Nissan Armada is a plus-sized vehicle that takes on the hot-selling Chevrolet Tahoe with enhanced capabilities and modern styling. This generation of Armada comes with more of everything, including more passenger space, a more comfortable ride and more integrated technology. Buyers who want to off-road in the eight-passenger Armada can opt for the PRO-4X version, which is specifically designed for life on the trail. Pricing for the new Nissan Armada is expected to start around $60,000.
Nissan’s new Armada is a compelling SUV for families. With a completely new exterior and interior, the model is thoroughly modern. It looks simultaneously like a mass market and premium model without losing its design nods to generations of the past.
Nissan Murano
Expected ▸ First quarter of 2025
Nissan has infused premium styling, features and appointments into its new Murano. The five-seat crossover, which competes with the Chevrolet Blazer for audience share, is new inside and out. Its exterior can be purchased with 21-inch wheels and a two-tone paint job. The Murano’s cabin also can be optioned with twin 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard and massaging seats. Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies, comes standard. Pricing for the Murano will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
Polestar 4
Expected ▸ Early 2025
The Polestar 4 high-riding hatchback notably features proportions like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Without a rear window, the Polestar 4 instead utilizes camera technology for rear views. The all-electric model, available with single- or dual-motor propulsion and up to 544 horsepower, has been designed with eco-friendliness in mind. That extends to the interior where cleanly styled, bio-based materials are featured. Technology is in focus in the Polestar 4 where buttons, knobs and toggle switches have been evicted in the name of touchscreen control. Pricing for the Polestar 4 starts at $54,900.
Porsche 911 Carrera GTS
▸ On sale now
For decades, the main argument in the Porsche 911 owners’ community centered around which is better: water-cooled or air-cooled models. Now, they have a new twist to add to the list. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS is a hybrid, the first of its kind in the 911 family. To 911 faithful, it’s heresy. To future-minded car lovers, it’s a worthy innovation. The new T-Hybrid version of the 911, sold as the GTS, features updated looks and technology, including a start button. Its robust 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque move the Carrera GTS with ease while precisely tuned equipment keeps it stable on the road or track. The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS starts at $164,900. Buyers can opt for the Cabriolet version for $178,200.
Ram 1500 Ramcharger
Expected ▸ First half of 2025
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger splits the difference between an all-electric truck like the Ford F-150 Lightning and a gas-powered model like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Its plug-in hybrid electric powertrain allows the model to use gasoline to power the truck’s battery-electric system. This means owners can drive a truck with zero emissions most of the time but have a built-in range extender engine that allows long-distance travel and towing without anxiety traditionally caused by an all-electric powertrain. Interested buyers can put their name on the waitlist for the all-electric Ram REV 1500 or Ram 1500 Ramcharger by purchasing a $100 Ram REV Insider+ membership. The cost of the Ramcharger is expected to be announced closer to its on-sale date.
Range Rover Electric
Expected ▸ 2025
A battery-electric version of Range Rover’s flagship model is expected in 2025, pushed off from an earlier arrival date to ensure perfection. Based on the long-wheelbase version of the Range Rover, the Electric will feature many of the same features and parts as the traditional Range Rover to ensure its expected Land Rover prowess goals are met. Details on the model are scant, but the company has already shown it wading in water over 33-inches deep and tested in ice-cold Arctic conditions. Pricing for the Range Rover Electric has yet to be revealed.
Subaru Forester Hybrid
Expected ▸ Spring 2025
The new Forester Hybrid for North America is distinct from that sold in Europe, including differing from Europe’s e-BOXER powertrain. Its hybrid powertrain system was developed using some shared components with Toyota, but it is tuned for North American buyers, with a specific emphasis on refinement and comfort, the company told Newsweek. It will also run Subaru-specific hardware not on any Toyota vehicles. The model will retain the creature comforts and features that were part of the 2025 Forester redo, including a more aerodynamic fascia, updated seats and the latest version of the company’s EyeSight driver-assist technology suite of safety and driver-assistance features. Pricing for the model will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
This model is another that aims to make the most of Subaru’s development partnership with Toyota. Subaru’s eco-conscious customer base is likely to gravitate toward the models with the hybrid powertrain as long as pricing and performance match their expectations.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Expected ▸ 2025
After a run of all-electric vehicle introductions (ID.4 and ID.BUZZ), it is time for Volkswagen’s SUV lineup to get a refresh in America. The Taos small SUV had already been revealed as an improved competitor to the Honda HR-V and Subaru Crosstrek. Tiguan is anticipated to be larger than its predecessor and should have three rows of seating. More information about the Tiguan, including pricing, will be revealed soon.
Toyota 4Runner
Expected ▸ Early 2025
Toyota’s much-loved 4Runner has gotten a redo in the vein of the company’s roster of new and improved trucks. It comes in the buyer’s choice of turbocharged powertrains, one more powerful than the other. That high-horsepower choice is also a hybrid. With buttons, a shifter and screens pulled straight from the Toyota Tacoma, Sequoia, Tundra and Land Cruiser, the 4Runner looks and feels familiar to brand enthusiasts. Like the last-generation model, the 4Runner is rugged and off-road ready. But this generation now comes equipped with the latest safety technology the company offers. Pricing for the new 4Runner will be revealed closer to its on-sale date.
Volvo EX30
▸ On sale now
The Swedish automaker pushed back the sales start of the Volvo EX30 but at long last it is now shipping to the U.S. That means Americans have been waiting a year longer for the battery-electric vehicle than Europeans. Its small size, features and affordability have made the Volvo EX30 a desirable package for that market. Americans are likely to appreciate the same things, in addition to its peppy electric powertrain and agile driveability. The Volvo EX30 is priced to start at $34,950.
Volvo XC90
Expected ▸ Early 2025
Volvo has significantly refreshed its XC90 SUV, which it makes in the U.S. for the American market. The premium seven-seater has been revised inside and out with a new face and upgraded cabin. Its central touchscreen is now larger and capable of over-the-air updates, which will help keep the model’s technology fresh even as it ages. New technology has enhanced the ride experience, giving passengers a smoother journey in the company’s lauded seats. Pricing for the SUV is expected to be announced closer to its on-sale date.
The revised Volvo XC90 is a step toward placating American buyers who aren’t all-in on battery-electric vehicles yet, while not making them feel like they’re missing out on technology or a good ride.
